For men who have not been deeply trapped for years:
Goal: stop immediately, confess honestly, remove access, renew the mind.
Message:
You do not need to spend years “figuring this out.” Stop feeding it now. Porn grows by repetition. The sooner you cut it off, the easier it is to keep it from becoming part of your identity, your routine, and your view of women.
Practical steps:
Pray honestly.
Confess sin without self-hatred.
Delete access.
Stop fantasizing.
Tell one trusted man.
Replace the habit with action: exercise, prayer, work, service, Scripture, sleep.
Think long-term: “What kind of man am I becoming if I keep doing this?”
You must take the advice of those that have gone down the path before you. If you don’t cut the habit out now, it may consume you. Not in the way you may think, but in your heart, mind, and soul. It will reduce your ability to live, laugh and love. You will be held back by this habit until it ultimately consumes you. The subtle effects on your life may not be recognized but it is having a profoundly negative effect on all aspects of your life.
Look at it objectively, and think about how small changes in how you think can compound to large meaningful changes in your life.
Pray this prayer – “Lord, create in me a clean heart. Renew a right spirit within me. Give me a renewed conscience that can clearly recognize sin, not so I can live in shame, but so I can turn away from what is hurting me and walk toward what is good.
Teach me to see women rightly — not as objects, images, or temptations, but as people made in Your image. Help me guard my eyes, my thoughts, my phone, my habits, and my heart.
When temptation comes, remind me that I am not powerless. You are faithful. Give me the way out, and help me take it quickly. Help me submit to You, resist evil, and draw near to You instead of running back to the thing that leaves me empty.
Jesus, I cannot overcome sin by willpower alone. I need Your grace, Your truth, Your forgiveness, and Your strength. Teach me to rely on You in the actual moment of temptation
Amen”
Walk with Jesus, pray any time you are considering using pornography. Jesus will not let you down.
